KY-MANI MARLEY & PROTOJE PERFORM LIVE FROM KINGSTON
Live From Kingston returns on May 4 for its third staging, with a spectacular lineup featuring Ky-Mani Marley, Protoje, Nyla, Jesse Royal and Kelissa. Adding to the allure of free live music, patrons will have an exclusive opportunity to browse the Massiv clothing collection, which is a favorite of sidewalk ‘fashionistas’ and celebrities alike, as Rihanna has been spotted sporting the brand.
Billboard charting recording artiste Protoje – who is affiliated with the I&I Worldwide outfit that produces the event – recently released his sophomore album The 8 Year Affair, to worldwide critical acclaim. This will be his last performance in Jamaica before hitting the road with his band The Indiggnation, touring the United States’ west coast and several European countries.
Rasta Love, a single from his debut album The 7 Year Itch, which features Ky-Mani Marley recently topped 9 million views on YouTube. Marley, who ended his tour of Europe in February, adds a unique flair of Reggae peppered with Dancehall and Hip-Hop to the eclectic lineup.
Kelissa McDonald’s soulful delivery and memorable melodies have captivated the hearts and attention of audiences from Kingston to Accra. She recently released a music video for the singleAfrika from her EP Rebel In Disguise, which was filmed on the continent in Nigeria & Ghana.
Jesse Royal, one of the emerging front-runners of the Reggae Revival and a student from the school of the late Phillip “Fattis” Burrell, is gaining renown for his irresistible magnetism and rousing performances.
Singer & songwriter Nyla has worked with some of the most recognized names in the music business, collaborating with Akon as part of the Brick and Lace duo, and writing tracks for J.Lo and Christina Aguilera. She recently released a new single titled Stand Up to launch her solo career.
As if the performance lineup isn’t enough to entice you, Base Kingston & Belle will host a pop-up shop by Massiv’s “clothing with a message,” and DJ Yaadcore will be at the controls, filling the air with his signature Reggae Aroma between sets.
Show time is 7pm at Base Kingston & Belle in Manor Park Plaza. There is no cover charge for the event, so patrons can look forward to supporting the limited edition clothing and artiste merchandise that will be available for purchase.
The Live From Kingston series has earned itself a reputation for high production value and quality content. If the two previous editions are an indication of what is to come, this third staging might indeed be the charm, and the best one yet.

“I love to perform in Europe, my fans are just truly amazing. When performing in Europe I get the opportunity to sing some songs, which I don’t normally sing and I love it. The shows were all great many sold out shows and to know that I’ve grown to headline a tour by myself is a great feeling and accomplishment” says Christopher Martin.
Christopher Martin’s European tour ended on April 13th in Mannheim, Germany and then he was off to Canada. As the ladies swooned, the singer delivered his stable of hits to a packed house at LG night club in Toronto, Canada. Chris got the crowd going from the second he came on the stage, it is just brilliant how he brings out his personality in front of such a huge crowd! He satisfied the Toronto crowd throughout his entire performance with the crowd not wanting his performance to end. He was now off to New York City to Co-Headline the world renown Hot97 Who’s Next show.
On April 24, Christopher Martin completed his five weeks tour at Hot97 Who’s Next. He entered SOBs and became a part of history as he performed for Hot97 Who’s Next, which has also showcased Drake, Movado, J.Cole, Konshens, B.O.B and Elephant Man just to name a few. The crooner’s casual and comfortable stage presence was reflected in both his outfit and his personality. Dressed dapper in his white blazer and tangerine colored slacks with an inside t-shirt printed “I’m Finally Famous”, we totally agree with that statement.
Multiple award-winning dancer, Mystic Davishas landed her most notable singing effort to date after collaborating with three international stars for a sultry new single, “Bubble Butt.”
Mystic joined forces with notable hit making group, Major Lazer for “Bubble Butt,” which will feature on Major Lazer’s new album, Free The Universe. The finished track was sent to her on her birthday, featuring the additions of prominent singer, Bruno Mars and Young Money Cash Money Billionaires (YMCMB)rapper, Tyga.
The song was released in mid-April and gained exposure thanks to American rapper,2 Chainz, who played the song at Coachellato mass approval.
I met Diplo (Major Lazer) two years ago, at Geejam with Timberlee and we kind of hit it off from there,” Mystic explained during anIRIE FM interview. “He liked my sound and we decided to record a couple things at first; samples. Last year, he sent me a Riddim and I wrote to it, recorded the track and sent it back and then, he had sent it back to me and I heard Tyga on the track and found out that the chorus was done by Bruno Mars.”
The prominent dancer/choreographer believes “Bubble Butt” could be the breakthrough hit she has been praying for and plans to release a video for the single in the near future.
In the past, Mystic has scored musically through her collaboration with Leftside, “Want Yuh Body,” while also releasing singles such as the Tony Kelly-produced, You and I as well as Wine Up (Blaqk Sheep Music).
